Here's an outline of what I've learned so for. This is my current cosmology and will almost certainly change over time. It's a mix of narrative, maps and strategies in an organic arrangement that is intended to express what I've learned as briefly and completely as possible.
SPOILER ALERT! This includes everything important I can pack in that I've learned recently about how to create the life I want. It skips to the end - in a sense - of all of the material I've digested so far. Only read this if you're ready to be plunged headfirst into the deep end or if you're already out there treading water and waiting for the rest of us.
Density Alert! This is pretty heady dense stuff (for me anyway, and I wrote it). It's mainly reminders to myself and possible signposts for people who are just arriving at similar perspectives. Most of this would have been over my head just two months ago! If you want to be brought to these ideas more smoothly, reliably and gently, then get the Abraham-Hicks Law of Attraction starter set and listen to it first. It teaches all of these ideas with a lot more detail across five CDs. Then come back here and see if you've come to a similar perspective. On this page, I'm documenting my own learning for that kind of comparison and resulting discussion, as well as to track how these learning grow over time. I not trying to explain, teach, or elaborate with this summary.
Here Goes...
Vibrations entrain to each other.
Any thought held in the mind will attract other resonant thoughts that will combine and the thought will grow.
Thoughts about what you lack (or don't want) attract other thoughts about why you think you lack it (or must live with it) and memories of times when you thought you would get it (or get free of it) but didn't. Soon, it seems necessary and inevitable that you lack what you want or are stuck with what you don't and it's hard to imagine ever having it to keep (or really living free of it).
Thoughts of what you want (not its lack! There IS a difference) resonate with ideas about how you might create it for yourself, what else you could do if you had it, and other things that increase how much you want it and how possible it seems to create.
As thoughts (of lack or of having) merge and gather momentum, they will eventually achieve a critical mass where an emotional response is produced, unless they are first abandoned for other thoughts. These thoughts, amplified by emotion, send out vibrations into the universe that will bring us the experience of their focus, unless the vibrations are overridden or canceled out by contradictory thoughts also amplified by emotion.
A buffer, or delay in time, causes our thoughts and feelings over time to blend, and the experiences available to us in any moment are a product of what we have thought and felt in the past. The scope and precise nature of that buffer I am still mapping.
I have heard a statement that sounds true as follows. Once you learn to apply these laws of the universe, you can change you life from any starting place, to any outcome, in sixty days. To me, this means that in no case will the time lag alone require that you to continue living with the effects of thoughts and feelings you had over 60 days ago. Even thoughts held for many years and amplified by the strongest emotions can be overwritten sufficiently to change their effect with 60 days of focusing on what you want instead. Other thoughts of lesser emotion and duration can replaced and their results changed much more quickly.
We are Eternal Beings
While we are physical beings with conscious minds, we each exist simultaneously as an eternal being. This eternal aspect of ourselves has a much broader perspective than we can perceive though our five senses and a greater awareness of how the universe works than we currently apprehend with our physical brains and conscious minds.
Constant monitoring of our own thoughts to see if we are focusing on what we want or what we lack would leave us stuck in a self-monitoring loop with no attention (that is life energy) with which to think our thoughts, feel our emotions or act and live our lives.
As such, our eternal selves do monitor our thoughts, as well as our whole vibrational state and our vibrational relationship to our environment, and guide us constantly via another channel, our emotions.
Walking in the Light is Truly Bliss
When we focus our thoughts on things we do not want (including the lack of things we want) long enough for them to start attracting other resonant thoughts and begin the cascade towards creating what we do not want, then our eternal selves send us raw negative emotion, which we color and shape into fear, worry, stress, anger, blame, helplessness, and all the other emotions we do not want or like.
When we focus on what we want itself in way that begins the process of creating it in reality, and hold that thought long enough for it to start attracting other resonant thoughts, our eternal selves send us raw positive emotion that we shape and color as joy, confidence, security, satisfaction, clarity, and all the other emotions we like and want more of.
I feel some things that I don't like feeling that I can and do remedy reflexively, like feeling a rock in my shoe and removing it, or being thirsty and taking a drink. Anything else that I feel, that I don't like feeling, I check where my attention is. So far, every time (yes every time) I have had an emotion that I didn't like and checked my attention, it has been focused on something I did not want. Also in every case, moving my attention to what I did want instead also resulted in my feeling better.
Even in the face of adversity My Joy Persists
In no case has any unwanted experience persisted in the face of me focusing on what I wanted and thus removing attention and life energy from the experience I did not want. Doing so has inevitably led first to positive emotions and then, if needed, to positive, constructive action that replaced the unwanted experience with a wanted one. Often the energetic, attentional shift was enough to change the experience without needing any other action.
If I am contemplating or beginning an action and the very thought evokes negative emotions from my eternal self, either this is an inappropriate action, or I was about to begin an appropriate action with an inappropriate attitude which would not have led to success. If I stop and notice my attention and the intention of the action, then it quickly becomes clear what is next for me to do, whether it is the previously planned action or something else, and I am filled with the inspiration to act with joy. This has applied to everything from writing content for this web-site to washing the dishes or taking out the garbage...even...believe it or not, to emptying the cat-box.
I've already gotten so accustomed to this state of joy, that even very small instances of focusing on and beginning to create what I don't want, stand out clearly by contrast, while they are still very small, and easily remedied. This means that those thoughts can be replaced with thoughts of what I want before they have a chance to attract resonant thoughts, and well before they gather enough energy to produce amplifying negative emotions. Having made the leap and found this new path, it's easier than I ever imagined to keep my dominant thoughts, and almost all of my emotions, in alignment with creating what I want. Once I truly understood the mechanism, creating what I did not want was the easiest unwanted habit I've ever broken.
One Step at a Time
My life is benefiting greatly from applying all this learning on an ongoing twenty-four-seven basis, which can only be done one part at a time. Each time I change activities throughout the day, I have an opportunity to check in with my emotions, prioritize my intent for whatever I'm doing next, and focus on the outcome I want from that intent.
This sets into motion the creation of that outcome. To fully receive that outcome, I must keep my dominant recurring thoughts about this part of my life in vibrational alignment with that outcome, expect it's arrival, and feel (and by extension act) as if it is an accomplished fact. These are the thought, feelings and actions that create vibrations that will attract and create a reality where it is an accomplished fact.
To fully receive that outcome, I must also be in a state of profound acceptance of the unfolding of the universe as it is. This includes myself as I am, other people as they are, and the world as it is. This acceptance may coexist with things I still want and goes far beyond mere tolerance, to the point of being sufficiently at peace with my environment that I can easily keep my focus on what I want even in interactions with someone who is focusing on what they don't want.
This degree of acceptance is possible because of the safety I feel from understanding that nothing can invade my experience that I do not first think, keep thinking until it gathers momentum and produces an emotion, and then hold as my dominant thought and emotion over time until it attracts that experience.
